I've got a '66 GT Fastback Mustang. The car has a Roush 342 crate engine and a T5z gearbox. It is fuel injected - has the Dynaflow 'weber look' efi system. It makes a shade over 400 rwhp, and has 450 ft lb of torque. The T5z gearbox is rated for 330 ft lb, and is the weak link in my drivetrain.

The car is more or less 100% street driven, it goes drag racing twice a season, but is basically used for touring, and fast 'corner carving' trips through the twisty hills.

My knowledge of auto's is limited almost solely to the old C4 that used to be in the car, but lately I've become very interested in the newer electronic autos, and the 'manumatic' paddle shift concept. My EFI computer will handle CAN bus connections.

Can anybody educate me on what would be a suitable electronic auto trans to go behind my SBF setup please ?

Well, you could try a 4R70W or AODE, they are similar in size to a C4. Do a Google or Pro-Touring search, I'm sure you'll find many installs of these.

I built a 33 Ford with a Roush 353IR motor. The computer would not handle the automatic and Roush said they had never done one with an auto. We eventually sorted it out, but it was a pain and this was a simple non electronic AOD.

Thanks for your response. I'm not using the same computer, I'm confident mine will handle whatever inputs are needed...

Cool, then look at the 4R70W for what you want to do - I think
