To Dynamat or not to Dynamat? That is the question. I have a 1969 Convertible Camaro that's about to be reupholstered and I want to know if it's truly worth it. I'm just not sure since it's a convertible. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Over all I'm sure that you will notice the difference. Not only in sound and climate under your feet. Just think, with just carpet you can feel the temp still coming through. But with some kind of sound mat or deadner of some choice and your carpet on the top it will be thinker which means it will be quieter and cooler. Just because you have a convertible, don't think you cant make a difference.

I did my vert fire wall to trunk and up the sides, if nothing else it keeps the rattles down :)

I was wondering how much heat does it keep out? I wanted to do the floor, doors, firewall, and everywhere else I can insulate the vehicle. I was wondering how much weight that stuff adds? Any thoughts guys?

Sure it adds weight. Figure out how much you'll use and you'll know - it all depends on where you're applying the treatment. I probably have about 40lbs in my vert. But it's really worth it. The car isn't exactly quiet, but there is no echo, vibration, etc. It is far more "solid" with the stuff. BTW, you might want to check second skin products. Great stuff.

It's totally worth it. Makes it's feel like a new car.

If you ever need to work on the car and removal of said product is required, it is truly a PITA.

I bought 2 boxes of 36 square feet of Dynamat Xtreme, each box weighs 21 lbs. I am convinced it is the best stuff out there, a friend used another competing 'mat' product and needed 2x the layers to equal the dampening of the Dynamat Xtreme.
I lined my subwoofer box with it, and the difference is truly amazing.

What competing product? As I sit here in my shop, right next to me is a box of Dynamat Extreme and a box of Second Skin Damplifier Pro. Both are very good products and probably either will do a fine job. I have used both. That being said, the Damplifier Pro is thicker, heavier, with better adhesive and works great. The good thing is that either is far better than some of the very inexpensive alternatives.
Carl is correct in that it's messy to remove if you have to work on an area that has been treated, but it's worth it to me.

The other competing product was Rammat, about 1/2 the cost as the Dynamat Xtreme. I am sure that compared to no dampening, it makes a big difference, but the Xtreme has me sold as better.
I have not used SS Damplifier Pro, but from what I am reading they have upgraded the foil thickness and adhesive, and is similar in price to the Dynamat Xtreme. I hear only positive remarks on both of those. Either one should give you great results.

Just to be thorough, the SS Damplifier Pro foil was already thicker than Dynamat Extreme by a good margin. As you said, both are very good products. I'm partial to second skin simply because in addition to being a great product, they are sponsors here, are a small business, and give personal attention. And Chip Foose doesn't do their marketing :)
