Ive got a nice little CAI, a 5" or so, tubular setup on my car. But id like maximize the CAI potential with some kind of shield so the air is forced into the intake.
This for a 69 camaro. Does anyone know where to find such a shield. Ive seen them as part of a kit, but i dont need a kit, just the shield.

Cardboard, sharpy, duct tape, hobby knife and a sheet of aluminium from Home Depot did the trick for me.
Need weatherstripping to seal everything in a decent way? Go see your local junkyard.
Total cost: less than $10,-. Total time: fabricated in 30-45 minutes.

Ask and thy will receive but forgive the crappy cell phone pics.
It's even easier when you don't have to form it around the coolant overflow tank.

I cut away a piece from the front of the inner fender and with the same aluminium made a little duct to force the air in towards the air filter (that still needs to be oiled BTW).

When you look up you can see the Air Filter.

When I look at the Intake Air Temp (IAT) I can see it climbing once you stop (e.g. @ a traffic light) and go down real fast once you start to drive again. Earlier this week I saw it go from 70F (ambient) to about 110F and back again in a matter of minutes.
Cost me more time to make the pics, upload them to the PC and to Photobucket and write the response incl. pictures than it took me to make that little shield. :)
