I was awarded an awesome opportunity this past Friday. I was able to take an incentive flight in an F-16. It was intense....

You suck!
No, seriously. I would pay big bucks for a spin in a F-16.
Congrats. How was it?

Very cool. Out of curiosity---exactly what is an incentive flight?

LOL Words can barely describe how cool it was. We did a combat take off going strait up at about 400mph. Did rolls, loops flew crazy low through the mountains and pulled about 6 Gs. The pilot even let me fly it for a while and do some Aileron rolls myself. Thing is crazy responsive and fast! Definitely not for the faint of heart or those with sensitive stomachs. I have a new found respect for our fighter pilots. Id do it again in a heartbeat...

An incentive flight is something they do to motivate. It is often awarded to those who win Wing level awards. I was chosen as the 944th Fighter Wing Airman of the Year last year which is why I got the flight.

Thats very cool.
On a similiar note, many years ago in the Aussie airforce, we flew Mirage III fighters. They would often offer up a rear seat on a maintenance test flight to one of the techs. A pilot once told me he was surprised at how few guys took up the offer.....I laughed and told him they work on them, they know better than to fly in them....

Looks like you did it out at Luke AFB? You probably flew over my house. I got to sit in one of those out there and also flew a simulator which was pretty cool in itself. I can only imagine what a real ride would be like.
Thank you very much for your service!

Congrats! I miss flying. I scored a ride in an F-14 when I was TDY to Sigonella on Scicily. The pilot wanted a ride in our 135 to watch the refueling from the other end so I arranged for him to get a ride and he did the same for me. Unfortunately my CO wouldn't let me go. We were doing air-refueling support for the USS America in the mediteranean.

Yea! I had my incentive flight several years ago in the F-16 also. What an awesome experience! My favorite part was the full power take off! 15000 feet in mere seconds! Woohoo!
I did walk away with a new respect for pilots. That flight wore me out! I was sore for nearly 3 days! Those guys do it everyday!
Congrats!

I totally have a new found respect for our pilots. They go through so much training and their bodies deal with some serious stresses on a daily basis. My hour and a half flight wore me out too, I had bruises on my shoulders from the harnesses and was so tired afterward.

Thank you, and yes I did puke! lol It is an extremely agile aircraft.
I wish I could get a ride in the 35 but they will all be single seaters.
