Hey everyone! been a member here for a while ,just do a lot of reading and not much posting and I've been looking for a lifted up truck for some time now,
my camaro doesn't get the job done in bad weather and neither does my motorcycle.
so I've been looking into more of the OBS style ( 73-88) chevy k20/k10/k5's and 00-04 Silverado z71's
now i found this truck i like but wanted to see what how you guys feel about it
http://dallas.craigslist.org/sdf/cto/1908245039.html
her price is firm, i offered her $4,300 she didn't bite
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/1897120751.html
is a decently nice truck guy just does not know anything about it besides what he listed, but I DON'T think its worth the 6500 he wants for it
then their is this one but it has a small 307 in it... like i feel like it should have a bigger motor. like the persona of a lifted up truck it its big and can get though anything but with a lil 307( was a 305 ) its like haha your truck has a small pecker....
http://fredericksburg.craigslist.org/cto/1890177555.html
anyways i listed em in order on the fact on which I want the most. so all and all if you have something for sale id love to see em,
I'm just so sick and tired of looking everyday though craigsList,Ebay,forums,auto-trader, and news papers..... so what do you guys and galls think!

The first truck looks great, the frame is really clean looking which I envy. I may have to get a southern frame for my 86. Can you live with the short box? If so pull the trigger and get smaller tires or deeper gears.

I would perfer a long bed ( 8ft) to a short bed.
but I do like the rest of the truck, even more so since I dont see any rust. would need a new spedo for the truck and some a/c heat.... i only realy care about the heat but from vintage air it comes with both so why not.
one problem I see with this truck is that it is in TX, and I am in MD. So I would either have to get it shipped ( around $500) or plane ticket (150 -220) then gas plus motel room for a night and food.
If i fly there i would rather not drive 21 hours with out any tool, do planes let you take some tools on the plane?
so
5k for truck
1k for ac/heat
$100 gauges?
400 rihno lining

i kind PT'd my lifted ride.
I put a fuel injected 1994 lightning motor into a 75 bronco. it is one of the early small broncos. I then got hydro boos disk brakes, 4.5" lift, 33" tires, soft top etc. i love it and actually drive it more then the camaro. it goes through swamps, over rocks, through gullies, and gets 16mpg!!

As the owner of a '75 GMC K-25 with a 1985 cab and (long) bed and a 1987 front clip (reasons listed, read on) with 4" Rancho Suspension lift and a 3" Body lift with 12.50-35X 15 BFG Mud Terrain radials, I would stay away from the 1973-1980 Chevy trucks because they are rust buckets. I firmly believe that the 1973-1977 are the absolute worst as the rear wheel wells trap water and mud and then rust forms above the rear wheel well. This truck has been in the family since new and when I was in my early twenties, I wanted to be the ultimate captain redneck to show off my mullet so I lifted it up and thought it was cool and thought it rode fairly well. Now fast forward to today. At 39 years old (my hair is cut now), this truck rides like crap, I wouldn’t dare pull a trailer at all thanks to the tall sidewalls of the big tires and I drive it once every couple of months just to keep the battery charged (swapped the body about 5 years ago and put a slick metallic blue base coat/clear coat paint job and it does turn heads). Morale to my story, I would stay away from anything older than 1980 because of rust and would probably suggest something a little newer with better suspension. Just my 2 cents!

What's your budget? I know where there is a 81 that is not lifted. There isn't a single body panel that has over 1000 miles on it, stock 454 , turbo 400', this truck was frame off built.
