Misdiagnosed problems, going in circles....how much time have you spent?

2 Fuel pumps.....broken, cracked rubber fuel lines....sucking air.....mouth full of gas.......Yuck!..........(don't ask)

Got the Corvair back on the road! Leaned allot about Corvair fuel systems over the past couple of days. What to do, and what not to do. I think I was going in circles there for a while.......

How much time have you spent on a simple, misdiagnosed problem or oversight?

Last week I spent a couple hundred on O2 sensors.

Light came on, checked the codes in the computer, it told me sensor 1, bank 1....so I replaced it......cleared the code, drove it for a few miles and all was good. Next stop light I get to, I take off at half throttle, light is shining again. I still had the scanner laying in the seat so I pull over and see that it set the same code again. Went back to the store and bought another o2 sensor, but couldn't imagine the new sensor went bad that quick, so I replaced the other sensor on the opposite bank.....so far the light has stayed off. Been through a couple tanks of gas since then, so I'm hoping the rear two sensors don't go out any time soon....there are four of those rascals at $100/sensor.
