Is it worth the effort to move the engine back two inches in my 65 Nova?
What am I really gaining an what are the benefits?

In fast math you will move engine and trans, (about 800LBS). So assuming the engine trans package is 60" from nose to tail, in very fast math it weighs about 13LBS per inch. So moving 2" you will move about 25LBS from the nose to the tail.
Lets say youy start at 1550LBS F and 1200LBS R, so about 56.4% F and 43.6% R, and you move 25LBS making it 1525LBS F and 1225LBS R, you almost move it to 55.5% F and 44.5% R. A move of .9%. Almost a full percent of weight bias change.
The huge advantage though is the adility to put a cooling system in it. The Chevy 2s are limited badly on how thick a radiator and electric fan set up they can take. Moving the motor back will give you room for some badd ass fans.
And moving the 25LBS does not suck either

Is that the Heidts front end? Which oil pan are you running. That looks to be back a good bit farther than mine.

Yes it is a Heidts clip.It is a stock 2002 Camaro pan. Remember I made the plates for the engine mounts 2" longer to move the engine back.

I'm guessing you modified your firewall then. I have the same combo and my crossmember sits about 3/4" in front of the sump part of the pan. looks like I could go back about an inch before hitting the firewall. I was making preparation to move mine back also, but I scaled the car it's 50.2%front and 49.8%rear. So it's prolly not worth my effort.

ok, that is one of the more clever repurposed things I've seen... firewall mods from the depot or tractor supply!
