Come one, come all.. sure, it's specifically targeted towards Camaros both old and new, but all cars are welcomed to make the cruise.. For Camaros in the event there will cash, prizes, women.. ok.. there will only be prizes, but good ones.

Mary Pozzi will also be on hand to give out rides and driving tips!

Of couse you need a GM powered car to get into the Super Chevy show.. but I digress..

Here are the details and the link for signing up!

----------------------------------------

Duel in the Desert

Join the Camaro Performers magazine staff and the crew from camaro5.com (http://www.camaro5.com/) for “Duel in the Desert,” a cruise from Ontario, California, to Phoenix, Arizona, for the Super Chevy Show on Friday, October 22nd.
The Camaro Performers magazine guys are proponents of driving their cars every chance they get, so when word went out that the Super Chevy Show would be hitting Firebird Raceway in Chandler, Arizona, they jumped at the chance to put together a cruise.
But driving through the desert will only be half the fun. The Super Chevy Show activities include drag racing, autocross, and show-n-shine. Camaro Performers magazine and Camaro5.com will present and award to the baddest fifth-generation Camaro (2010 – 2011) of the event. Camaro Performers, lateral-g.net, and pro-touring.com will also be handing out an award for the baddest overall Camaro (all generations). Points will be awarded to the quickest Camaro through the autocross and down the famed Firebird International Raceway quarter mile. The car will also be subjectively graded on aesthetics by the Camaro Performers staff and Camaro5.com moderators. The winners will receive a trophy and have their car photographed for a feature in Camaro Performers magazine.
As a special bonus, Spectre Performance will also offer the winner tickets and hotel accommodations for two days to the 2010 SEMA show.

“The Duel in the Desert” cruise will start at Spectre Performance in Ontario, California, the morning of Friday October 22nd. Cruise participants will be treated to donuts, coffee, swag, and tour of the facility. From there it’s on to Blythe for a lunch stop, and then to Baer Brakes in Phoenix, Arizona, for a shop tour, refreshments, a car show, raffles, and more swag.

Cruise participants will be able to park in a special Camaro Performers/Camaro5 corral at the Super Chevy Show on Saturday, October 23rd and Sunday, October 24th.

Go to www.camaroperformers.com/duel (http://www.camaroperformers.com/duel) for more information and event registration.
Be sure to pre-register by Oct 3rd, to take advantage of the exclusive $70 discount rate, which includes two tickets for Saturday and Sunday’s Super Chevy Show, two “Duel in the Desert” T-shirts, participation in drag racing, autocross, show & shine, goody bag, and the chance to win the Camaro Performers/Camaro5 trophy.

Mary, it looks like the SCCA will handle the autocross out there. I hear they have a regular gig at that facility, so it should run pretty smooth.
Looking forward to this. I'm so ready for a good road trip...

Yep, I'm sure it'll be in the normal spot (see my sig pic). I'd say the lot is a little bigger than what we got in Vegas so it should be pretty awesome. :)

Make sure to have your son talk to Adam @ ST motorsports also. He is a great tuner and he will be on the cruise with his 5th gen. I think his best trap speed so far is 136mph.

What a fun weekend. It was good to meet some new friends and see some faces I haven't seen since the last outing. I feel the "Bad Idea 55" has a few more bugs to work out and as long as Kyle can stay off the drag strip then I won't have to be replacing half shafts! None the less, I had a great time.

Thanks to;
All the guys at TCI. Sal, Ben, Jason, Evan, you guys are top notch and thanks for the shop tour!

AZFBA...... I can't say enough with the whole lane changing experience down the 10 freeway. You guys have it down!! LOL! I tried looking for the video to post, but couldn't find it. Tom, your Camaro kicks a$$!!

Doug aka DFRESH, man your a joy to be around. Look forward to the next event and thanks for letting me ride with ya most of the way home. I'll be sending you my Chiropractor bill!!! Hahaha, just kidding.

LOL--that made me laugh bro---was waiting for the comment about stopping every 130 miles, however, the Chiro one was much better. Was fantastic to meet you and the other boys. What a great time we had---sipping on ladies beverages in the bar, wheel hopping the 55, suicidal driving on the way up, getting an education about my ADHD, stopwatches--dual nonetheless, non-complimentary breakfasts and lastly, windshear fixes for a 69 Camaro and the physics of open vents and the effects it has on the topic. Was an educational weekend to be sure. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Such a great time and your guys car is an amazing effort---more than impressive, and it's the right color. Really looking forward to the next gig (which will be Optima for all of us it sounds like) and hanging out with you guys more.

Many thanks to Nick and the crew at Camaro Performers---they went all out and really did an amazing job, even if the raffle was rigged. Getting to run these cars down the drag strip and then jump over to the autocross is a marraige made in heaven. I loved that part of the event---was amazing. You guys that didn't make it, you don't want to miss the next one---the drive out to AZ was something else----what a blast---it was like Top Gun training, and that's all I will say about that part of the trip.

Huge thank you to Spectre guys/girls for hosting, along with Baer Brakes for taking care of us, and TCI (Evan, Sal, Jason and crew) for everything. You guys made it a great time for everyone, especially me, so thanks a bunch.

Condrats to Brett C for taking home the big cash prizes and running within less than a second of the 2 fastest times posted for the auto cross. The car is Bad A--there's a new sherriff in town.

Will look forward to this event big time for next year--

I feel the "Bad Idea 55" has a few more bugs to work out and as long as Kyle can stay off the drag strip then I won't have to be replacing half shafts! None the less, I had a great time.

Thanks to;
All the guys at TCI.

+1

James you summed it up for me as well!
Doug i did notice that when we weren't following you my car didn't smell like "we just got off the lake".
Rob we ended up getting 24 mpg on the way home. We are realizing 6 gear is a little tall (at 90mph its running at 2,100 rpm) its working pretty hard to push that box down the road at that speed.

we will see you all at the OUSCI

BTW: You guys missed Don handing me the keys to the '32. He let me make 4 runs before yanking me out of the seat. Let's just say that a 1st time autocrosser in a 400WHP 2800# car with 53% of its weight on the back axle aren't a good mix. Like Doug though, I still beat Evan in the Camaro. LOL

It's not always easy being the newcomer to the group, but meeting up with you guys was a simple blending of just plain old fun.

The guys at Camaro Performers and Camaro5 put together a great event allowing you to meet and spend time with similar car junkies while enjoying the driving experience from all angles...feeling the need for speed on the highway, testing your trash talking reaction times and lead foot pedal-control at the drag strip, and checking your ability to control your desire to do some drifting in the autocross. This event was supported by great sponsors, breakfast at Spectre Performance, and dinner at Baer Brakes. Not to mention all the rad valuable gifts and prizes that were given away by additional sponsors.

Special thanks out to Mary P for doing a test drive in my car, a great way to get feed back on set-up and car feel from a pro. This info lead to some car adjustments that dropped 3 sec. off my times down to a best pass at 24.09 with one cone. (maybe even faster, I was not keeping close tabs).

You got to love the highway lane changes at 80 plus from the AZFBA crew, awsome in person. Meeting in person Tom, Kyle, James, Jason and others (I have a name memory problem) made this event memorable. Inspiration from Dfresh....thanks. Also had a great time taming my excited Mom who lives in AZ that I don't see much.

If you didn't make it to this event....there is always next year....It was truly EPIC.

Hey Brett, glad to hear your car is running so well. Congrats on the numbers. I guess next year at Costa-Mesa may end a little different. Any video?

I took a video of you Brett going around the course along with Doug and Kyle. Kyle said they came out pretty good and he'll have them up soon. Did you hit much rain on the way home? We did, thank goodness for RainEx!!

67zo6 I gotta say I like the style of your Camaro, I got a few good pics of it while it was parked in the show section :smoke:

It was really cool watching you guys run. Hopefully in the next year or 2 I'll have my '78 Malibu road-ready and down here from Michigan. It probably won't be next year, but if they keep doing the show at Firebird I'm sure sometime or another I'll make it up and take my own shot at autocross :revto9k:

Sweet James, look forward to seeing them. Got sprinkled on just as I entered LB. I got lucky this weekend, just a little rain on the way out of town and sprinkles on the way in.

Thanks Doober. good luck on your build. look forward to seeing it.

This is video does it no justice!!! This is something that you have to see in person. When you guys did it i was looking for a dead cow in the middle of the road that you were panic swerving around. Totally caught me off guard, but it was so cool!!!

Thanks to everyone for coming out for the Inaugural Duel in the Desert. I can't list all the sponsors here, but I really want to thank Spectre and Baer for hosting the starting and ending destinations of the cruise, and JBA for giving up a set of long tubes for the winner of the 5th-gen class. I can't remember the last time Phoenix felt so close. We had so much fun on the drive, time just flew by.
We've already had a meeting about what's going to happen in 2011. This event will not disappoint and the prizes will be bigger and there will be more of them.
Thanks again to those who made it out.
Looking forward to 2011....
Stay tuned for event updates soon.

Not quite the Navy Blue Angels, but very close. Very cool. Looks as though everyone had a great time. I hope to join the fun next year.
