View Full Version : motorcycle salvage yards/ auctions Denver area?
So I've decided I would like to spend some money and time playing with a wrecked sport bike. I'd really like to get my hands on a CBR600RR or two that's been wrecked anywhere but in the front. I've searched CL but would really prefer to get into an auction or a salvage yard. Is there anyone in the Denver area with connections that could get me in or maybe even procure said bike(s) for me? Obviously I would pay a finders fee. My problem is I know these bikes are selling at auction for $1000 if not much less. I flat out refuse to pay someone $2000+ because they went to the auction. My work schedule doesn't allow me the ability to easily travel 8 hours on short notice to go to one of these auctions. So I figured I would put it out there that I'm willing to pay for someone's time if they have access. Any takers?
Oh the exception to the preferred selection is a Suzuki TLR or TLS. I love Vtwins and those two are fantastic bikes. RC51 is too heavy and fragile with the radiators on the side. Suzuki Sv's blow their engines if you wheelie them and the Superhawk is unfortunately dated and not worth the effort unless it can be had for a song, lol.

Trey - sounds like a lot of fun, but I gotta warn you...having walked away from a freeway motorcycle accident, if you get a wrecked bike take a hard look at replacing the frame, front end and wheels if you plan on riding it. I know, frames can be straightened, wheels trued, front ends fixed...but you're taking a chance on micro fractures expanding and high speed wobbles both at the wrong time.
Just my .02, good luck with the project!
Thanks Ron. That's a very good point which is why I won't consider putting a bike with front end damage on the road. There's just way too much to worry about. With side damage from low siding the damage is typically minimal and the bike is still salvaged because all that dang plastic is expensive. I'll be stripping all the plastic off anyway. For this bike I was also planning on simply having something to ride around town that was stupid fun. I have the Ducati hypermotard as a benchmark. For a travel bike to go into the mountains with I'll buy a second bike and do very little to it. That way I have something dependable that I can trust at speeds and away from home. At least that's what I have planned out. We'll see how it works out.
Thanks
