Im running a DSE dash in my 69 camaro with autometer phantoms and some tiny 5/32 green LEDs for my turn signals. I am upgrading to autometer cobalt gauges and some larger 5/16 LEDs to correct a minor leveling issue i have with my current lights being off center.

should i get blue to match the cobalt gauges? keep em green? or get red or amber? i dont have any other warning lights, although i should get a high beam indicator.

amber is traditional for turn signals. It depends if you are in to having everything look the same, then change it to blue to match the rest of what you have going on.

Post up when you finish so we can see how it looks. :)

i think i decided on red for the blinkers and a blue bulb for the high beams.

I used the green (3mm ones) for the turn signals, amber one for my check engine light and a blue one for the high beams from radio shack for my install. Be careful on where you install the blue one for your high beam, those things are BRIGHT. Mount it low and away from your field of view, you will know when it is on. If I did it all over again I would use a red one for the high beam.

i wonder how bright the blue from my cobalt gauges is going to be!

x10. I personally avoid blue LED's like the plague. If you did go with blue, it wouldn't be too much work to build a circuit to modulate the amount of light it gave off. The time it takes would be well worth it.
I'd use red for high beams as well. The nice thing about red light is that it doesn't ruin your night vision.
For turn signals I'd likely stay with the OEM style green.

The blue in the Cobalt gauges is probably either pulse width modulated or are actually white LED's with blue gels. As long as the LED isn't shining directly in line with your eye, it wouldn't be nearly as distracting.

you could also just add another resistor to the blue LED. i'll have to check what ones i use but i know my single LED's have 480 ohm resistor to work with 12-14v and then add more from there to make them dimmer.
