Ive been looking for a shop to spray basecoat/clearcoat on my Nova. Body work is done, its wet sanded and ready to go. I will be doing the cut and buff too. Ive tried several shops, but always get the same results= $4000 and up. My budget is $2000. $1k in materials and a days labor right? Am I expecting too much?

What kind of paint job are you looking for. And not many shops are going to give you any kind of guarantee painting over someone elses body work Also, I would like to know where you can find all paint and all the materials to spray a car for 1,000 dollars! or do you already have the paint and Materials? I am getting ready to repaint the hood of my car and the material list is a little over 400.00 Just for a hood!
breakdown:
1 quart of sealer 40.00
1 quart of paint 90.00
1 pint of paint 40.00
1 quart of base activator 100.00
1 gallon of clear 100.00
1 gallon of hardener 75.00

I think that your a little short on the budget. This is just from my experience..I could be wrong. I hope you find someone to do it for that price, you will be way out on top GOOD LUCK:cheers:

I would say you will need to supply the material to stay in your budget. The cost will also depend on what prep will need to be supplied by the shop. Is the car a part with no glass? no interior. can you paint the shell and panels in pieces? or are you wanting to paint the car all together. What color?
If you want to drag it to Indy we can talk.

Drivetrain is in the car and running but thats it. No glass, interior, etc. It is in pieces. I have done all the prep, wet sanded, scuffed everywhere. Washed and cleaned several times. Dark green, late model GM color.

Well got the car back today. They did a very nice job. Total cost $1569. Im going to put it together and enjoy it for a month, then color sand it when it starts getting cold out.

I got a quality paint job using Dupont materials, done in one weeks time, for a common man's budget. Good honest shops are out there!
