Hydroboost lines and install questions

There has been a little confusion on my part regarding line size required for proper Hydroboost function. Most posts say 3/8 or -6, as I read more more into it some feel -8 -10 or .5 to 5/8 for the return is really needed.

I want to get this project completed but haven't really gotten a feel for How I should plumb.

-will 3/8 all the way around function fine?
-I intend on routing the lines though the drivers fender, should I in any way compensate with larger line size, because of this?
-Is there any reasons why I shouldn't route the lines through the fenders?

-What are the port sizes on the 67 firebird ps box, ps pump, and the gm hydro boost?

The 3/8 return lines will be fine no matter how long they are. The only time you might have trouble is if the pump only has one return, and you used a "t" to feed both returns. The stock lines on most any GM are the same, except some of the newer stuff uses metric.

so is the only recommendation to weld a bung on the back of the pump?

Does any one know the port size on a newer gm hydro boost? The one I'm using came off a 2007 gmc sierra 3500.

inlet and out let on the 67 fire bird power steering box and pump?

I have to order the lines and fittings so this would really help.

I used the stock 3/8 return hose on all my swaps. Is that what you are asking? Also yes you should have two return ports on the pump housing.

I can't remember if I used a 79 caddy double return pump or found a used one and swapped the tank from it onto my stock pump. I think I used the complete caddy pump.

I am mainly interested in what thread sizes and type I'm dealing with so I can buy adapters.

I just completed a DIY hydroboost on my 68 Camaro. Turned out great love the brakes. Made everything my self I used a hydroboost from a 2005 Denalli. If I can help let me know if you still need any info.

@ obengston--- did you use hydraulic or -an lines and fittings? how did you plumb the return and resirvor?

I used an lines and fittings and used a "t" on the return line next to just befor the PS pump. This thing rocks. One of the best things Ive done so far. My PB were okay, but compared to this..night and day.

I will get the sizes I used this afternoon when I get home. Just decide if your going to have the booster upright or upside down. I originally was going to go upside down, but with my set up I had to go upright because the booster I have has the extra long "booster reservoir, which hit my lines and MC when I tried upside down. This could have been fixed but I would have had to redo my lines.

You can just get 2 of the stock return hoses. It is also sold by the foot. 3/8 PS return hose.

I have the bracket made by Nick Diprenda on this forum so it is mounted up right I have a single return port ps pump and a stock box.

Okay your set up sounds to be just like mine.

I used for the hydrobooster 1- AER FBM2608, and 1 AER FBM 2609 along with 2 - AER FBM 1122
For the PS Box I used 1- AER FBM 1112 (45*)

For the PS Pump I used 1 AER FBM 1112 (458)

Now for the PS Box and PS Pump I had to order (1) 11/16"-18 Power Steering Gear Fitting and (1) 58"-18 to -6 Power Steering Gear fitting. Can't remember which one went where either pump or box but need both in order for the other fitting to fit. I got these 2 fitting from Detroit Speed. All other fitting I got from Summit.

As for the low pressure return I "T" them together behind the pump.

Keep in mind all these fitting are for using the AER-FCC0610 #6 TFE hose which was easy to assemble. Did it with no vise just my hands.

I ran my lines from the booster to the right and down and for the PS Box low pressure return I used the fitting that was there just used my line on it.

Everything works Great.
