4th seat brackets for 2nd gen

I have some nice leather seats waiting to get bolted into my 80. Would it be easiest just to take the tracks of the 2nd gen seats, bolt them to the floor, get the 4th gen seat to sit how I want it to on top of the 2nd seat rails and then make marks and weld? I'd like to stay away from drilling new holes if I can. The floor is oddly shaped with room for the cat converters, which might be a problem.

What would/did you do?

I don't have much other than hand tools and as you can see I also don't have a great place to work on it. Any suggestions?

use the 4th gen brackets. bolt the parts of the bracket that match with the existing holes and use square tubing and a hacksaw to fab some brackets that will position the seat the way you want it. Drill holes in the square tube pieces and bolt up. This will take some trial and error but it works. That's how I did my 78 T/A anyway. Then mark and i.d. each one. Take them to someone to weld them.

I did kinda the reverse... I took seats from a 79 Z28 and put em in my 87 T/A. What i did was take the seat tracks from the car the seats are going in. Line them up with the new seats. drill 2 holes(in each bracket) where it would line up with the holes in the seat... Simple, Easy, Quick, Cheap... Thats all i got to say.
