DSE Subframe connector install ?

I`m in the middle of installing DSE`s SFC`s. I`m starting on the drivers side and I don`t like the way the template is saying to cut out for the connector on the floor pan. At the rear of the template it says to measure from the inside of the pinchweld of the rockers 4 3/4" and 5" towards the subframe. When I line up the template that way it looks like it`s off. If I do 5" at the rear and 5" at the front, then it looks like where it`s suppose to be. I have original rockers, but replaced the left and right side floor pans with the USA made pans from Ricks. I didn`t cut out my tunnel on my car. That is the original part of the pan. I buttwelded them in and they lined up perfectly, so I really don`t think that is the problem. Seems I remember reading others ended up cutting out more metal than needed when they followed the instructions per DSE. So am I right or wrong?

If you aren't sure, why don't you cut small sections out at a time until you get the fitment right? Keep trimming until you can slide it in. I know it will require more time and frustration but it will come out clean.
Or, if you over cut it, you'll have to add small patches to the side. Not a big deal, after welding and grinding you'll never see the patch anyways.

I called DSE and consulted with them about the 4 3/4 measurement. I told them that it looks like it lines up better at 5, so I went with the 5. I think I should have went with 4 7/8" instead because I had to grind the edge of the cut on one side to get it to line up with the subframe a little bit better.

They also told me every car is going to fit different, so the measurements they give you still may need to be tweeked to fit each individual car. Overall, they are very simple to install. I`ll post up some pics when I get it done.
