heres what im leaning towards..
http://www.jegs.com/i/Blueprint+Engines/138/BP3472CTC/10002/-1

that one should be ready for me to bolt in and go..

or should I do this one and add , water pump, intake, carb, MSD. Which will put the pricing at about the same as the complete engine from JEGS.

You could build an engine equivalent to or better either crate motor for $3,500-$4,000.

The combo I have used in the past is a CompetitionProducts 4.030 fully machined and prepped 302 block for $599. Re-worked stock 302 crank, rods, Clevite bearings and Speed-Pro hypereutectic pistons for $350 total from a local machine shop. Ford Racing E303 hyd. roller retro-fit. Re-worked '69 351W heads from local machine shop $300. Aside from the FRPP valve springs, everything else was off the shelf Speed-Pro, Fel-Pro, or Melling stuff. I ebay'd an Edelbrock intake, water pump and factory reman Carb for $425, along with a stock distributor w/Crane Cams electronic conversion (petronix type) conversion kit.

Besides building an engine is 10x the fun of un-crating one.

It would cost you more up front but I would buy a crate engine from a builder, I know of a engine builder that built us a 347ci for manifold R&D, it has got hundreds of pulls on it and makes good power. His name is, Brad Wallace, WallaceEngine Co. 410-686-9242. Tell him Dale already talked to him about it.
