Am looking at engine options for a project I am currently working on and have been offered a 3L 24V engine from a volvo 960 (1995) can anyone tell me does the engine require an ecu and if so how complex would it be to install, am not at all experienced with ECU engines...
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks.

All EFI engines will require an ECU, this is no different. There are often a few other modules that may be required to make it run. I'm not well up on volvos, but 1995 vintage means it's in the middle of a period where most cars had seperate immobilisers, ignition modules and injector resistors. If you get an engine like that, I'd strongly suggest it be removed from a running car, and you take everything that's attached to the wiring loom with you.

If you don't have the ECU/wiring, you could always run it on an aftermarket box such as the BigStuff3.
