I have a 70 Nova originally vinyl roof car. There is no rust but as I am stripping the paint I noticed the roof is weak and in some spots when you touch it the roof sinks about 3/4 of an inch. Comes back to the natural shape. What can I do to stiffen this section up.

Thanks

remove headlining and see if any roof supports are missing.Put some sound deadening mat up there or some fibre glass strips with some foam glued in first about 2-3" wide every 18" or so across the underside then overlay with deadening 1 or the other should do.

What you need is fibreglass mating cut into strips ,and then with resin and hardener mix brush it onto the over glued foam ,roof sorry for being not to detailed, you should be able to see using fiber glass on youtube.

Before you do anything make sure that the material(glue/foam type material) between the roof and supportd are not missing or loose

That stuff is called anti-flutter foam. The major brands are Fusor and Duramix and you can get it at any autobody store or on-line.
