Im thinking about upgrading my camaro to rack and pinion but am not down with paying almost 1000 for a conversion kit. I found a rack and pinion for 50 off of a 2001 camaro, im thinking a cradle will have to be made for it. I have seen some people do a conversion using that rack, I was wondering if anyone on this forum can chime in and offer some advise.

That is what the BRP kit used. Do a search. I remember it had custom steering arms and the sway bar mounting was a little unusual. The turning radius was large and one guy compared it to an F150. He no longer sells that kit.

Do your research...
Cliff notes, they are pretty much a waste of money unless you go with a custom rack. The pivot points off just about any stock rack are not ideal for our cars. Woodward will make you a rack in the proper width, but it will cost you.
A good steering box will net you just as good a response on a stock subframe.

The BRP kit has a pretty limited turning radius. I haven't heard of anyone who has been happy with it. As was said before, I wouldn't waste my time trying to retrofit a rack in an existing chassis. A good box will be much simpler to install with similar, if not better, performance.

I run a Lee 600 series box (670 to be exact). It is phenomenal. I am unsure if the DSE boxes are factory spec... I ordered my Lee box through SC&C.

excellent route and just be sure to inspect your steering linkage for wear.
