I've been contemplating building a 1968 Firebird and picking up a recked 2007 GTO to strip off the running gear (6.0 LS3, Trans, rear end, breaks, etc.) Before I take the plunge I was wondering if anyone had heard of people doing this and if it is even feasible (money wise that is) or if I should just get something from DSE in the way of a suspension and just get a LS3 somewhere else. If you have any advice please let me know, thanks.

there wasn't an '07 GTO- '06 was the last year.
and they only had the LS2..
you have a good plan, but just get the motor, trans, and seats from the GTO.

Street Customs did a recked 05 or 06 GTO frame with all it's parts and placed the 69 GTO shell on top of it. They got it to work with a lot of mods. I was once told by a guy that owned a shop, anything can be done, with the right amount of money.

I believe someone here did a '69 with GTO interior & drivetrain. I'm not sure that anyone has tried using the suspension.

I'd start with determining the track width of an early bird in relation to the GTO. That will be your determining factor on using the rear suspension.

I've seen at least two done on a original GTO body, none under an F Body though. I would think sometimes meshing things in to fit is harder than just starting from scratch.

A 2007 GTO would be rare so you should not cut it up, LOL. I am assuming you mean a 2006. I just finished doing a 06 GTO transplant in my Chevelle. I can tell you this make sure you get the ECM, the TCM (if trans is an auto), the BCM, the acccelerator pedal and the wiring harness. If you are going to run the factory harness which I did you don't necessarily need the BCM but it would of saved time for me with a limp mode problem I had. If you are going to do it and have any ?'s hit me up with a pm and I will answer what I can for you. Good luck you will be happy my car seems to go good and it is stock.
