Not a Buick......it is 1950's at least and Buicks were nailheads back then.

I bet your right going with GM though, I would say Olds before 1955.

I'm thinking 50 to 55 Olds too. Thinking of the suspension (upper and lower control arms) design. What do we win if we guess? :)

I think the only ford to come with a rear mount distributor would have to be a Y-block. It's the right era, and the heads look right, but I think the front cover of a Y was quite a bit bigger.
Just my opinion, I'm in no way an expert in obscure motors. :)

By the looks of the clouds, it was about to rain. I hope they got to where they were headed and got a tarp over that thing. Wouldn't want to get water spots on it.

The upper control arms look distinctly early 50's Merc to me, but the rear section of the frame around the diff looks late 50's cadillac. Then the shaft mount rockers and spacing looks original Hemi.

Looks to be an early 50's Olds.

Is that a cross over tube running between the heads? Whatever that thing is, it's really throwing me.

Wish we could see the exhaust port placement.

I did not notice the water crossover between the cylinder heads.......that is more like early Pontiac. Then again Pontiac got the V8 in 1955 and that front end is from an earlier car than 1955.....hmmmmm
