I have put an 02 LS1( out of a camaro ss) into a 65 GTO and was planning on using the battery cables that came with the motor- can anyone give me a diagram of exactly where the cables are routed to, including the engine ground points?? ( I know I will have to pick my own chassis ground points) Thanks

I do not have a diagram, but at least an explanation if that helps.
Both cables, positive and negative split into two at the battery.
The negative cable has a short lead that is a body ground to the RS inner fender.
The two main leads for the positive and negative run together down the RH side of the engine under the engine mount along the oil pan and then the positive goes to the starter and the negative to the block just above the starter.
The second positive battery cable lead runs across the car at the cooling fans to a boss on the underhood fuse box on the LS front of the engone bay.
There is also a body to engine ground on the front LS of the engine down by the alternator that runs to the LH frame rail and if it is not there I would get one for sure. It is a "naked" ground as it does not have any exterior cover on it.
Hope this helps.

I looked at my cable set up last night and my positive cable side actually splits with 3 wires and one of them is black so should I assume that 1 goes to the starter, 1 goes to the alternator, and the 3rd is the fuse box power?
sorry for what may be a dumb question but I DONT want to fry anything,
thanks

I will have to check a car in the AM to verify, but I believe the third wire would go to the alternator. Whether it is black or not I do not recall off the top of my head.
