View Full Version : Over sensitive steering

OK, 66 Mustang with rack & pinion, 620lb springs, A-arm drop, ST sway bars, new bushings, shows no abnormal tire wear. The steering is VERY sensitive and almost wonders while driving. It tracks straight and NO SHOP in town will align it for me so I honestly don't know where it's at. Is this a caster issue?

Is that a power rack? If so, maybe the pressure is too high. Had a similar problem until Matt from AME set me up with a lower pressure pump from KRE.

Yes, it is power. I am running a Randall's Rack power set-up.

What are the alignment settings? Toe out can make a car darty.

Don't know what the problem is but the best thing I ever did for alignments was to learn how to do my own with the string method. You can google it and probably find the info you need to make the setup yourself. I made mine from conduit and some brackets. $20 is all it took along with a friend who has a camber caster gauge.

It sounds like an alignment problem but it could be pressure too.
