ATS oil pan problem.

Hey guys..

Wondering if you guys could give me a few ideas on how to fix my oil pan problem without buying a new one.

if you look at the following pic you will see the 12an fitting are screwed onto two other type fittings that are welded to the oil pan.

My problem is, I have the 12an black fittings, but not the other silver ones. Can I just weld the fittings to the pan? I was thinking of getting some straight adaptors and welding those. I just dont want to cut down on the flow for the oil.

I bought the pan used from ironworks. it set on there shelf for about a year for a customer car I think. Im just assuming those straight pieces were not with it.

I've tried to call Tyler, he seems to be hard to get a hold of.

so that picture is not your pan? Yes, you need two #12 AN male fittings coming out of the pan; if yours are missing you can weld some on, I believe he used steel fittings. Also the rear line with the pressure fitting on it is the RETURN line to the engine, not the line out of the engine. This is critical so that you get the plumbing correct at the oil filter.

His later pans had the two steel tubes welded outside the pan also at their perimeter where they go through the pan rail for extra strength. Mine cracked there, was the early design without the extra welding. I seem to remember that he added a brace to the longer tube also to help with this. Finally, if yours is the zinc coated one that is not powdercoated I recommend having the pan powdercoated as I also had leaking through the welds on the side of the pan. He later started powdercoating them, and once I coated mine it worked great.

I just have two holes there. I got the 12an black fittings. but the steel fitting that are welded to the pan, there is nothing there. I can weld them in, just need to know what to get.

the tubing on mine is 3/4" o.d. and 5/8" i.d. That would make sense as 5/8" i.d. is app. what #12 line is. I can't tell if it's steel or stainless tubing, it's been coated. So if your fittings are true #12 inside with 5/8" i.d. then they'd be good to go.

this is my pan. I got the motor on the stand upside down.

As Jody stated the front port is out to the filter, the aft the return from the filter.

If you plan on running the hoses forward along side the engine I suggest making your new weld-in tubes curved with a 90* on the ends. This would make hose routing significantly easier.

I've been using -10 on mine with no problems.

they might know a thing or two
possibly this was a custom pan for Roger as he likes to do some Crazy stuff.
