I originally had a double roller timing chain setup in my car. It only has about 1000 miles on it and looks brand new with no signs of streching at all or wear. I got an xe268 cam. Upon reading the instructions it recommends using their double roller chain sprocket setup because they say that it is made for their cam and others could have uneccesary advance built into their sets. Can I use this set I have or do I have to use what they recommend? Dont want to spend the extra if I dont have to but will if need be.

Thats a simple answer........ idex the camshaft upon installation. That way you know what you have and if it needs to be adjusted to be within the manufacturers spec's for cam timing.

Ditto- They're just trying to keep you from using a stock-replacement type that has some built in advance. If you degree it, you can set it to where they reccomend.
