Alright, i'm confused what is the simplest set up to swap in a LSx and a T56 into a 67 GTO. I'm not against mix and matching parts, or a little bit of custom wok either, but it would be nice if the parts i got made everything fit just right.

Such as, the Edelbrock kit looks nice as do the headers, but i believe you run into problems with the tie rod ends making contact with the pan, and also you have to make your own trans x-member. And a member on here i believe has to remove his transmission if he wants to replace a starter.

BRP kit looks nice, but there headers are very expensive, but it also comes with a x-member.

Basically looking for the most cost-effective setup that fits the best.

So looking for:
engine mount kit
possibly trans x-member (if i have to modify the stock one thats okay)
oil pan
headers
anything else i'm forgetting

thanks for your help guys

Don't go with the brp kit. I had it and sold it. Buy some lsx motor plates and sbc chevy motor mounts instead. You might have to get chevy frame mounts or modify yours for the sbc motor mounts to work. Though it still will be easier than the brp mounts.

i'm starting to lean towards the edelbrock stuff even though b-man on here was having problems with getting his starter in, he also has an auto transmission. i need to make some calls to see if since im using a T56 that it will give me a little more room.

I'm curious about this as well as I want to do this exact swap in my 67 GTO as well.

I think b-man's issues were due to him using an LS3 instead of an LS1. The flexplate is different (larger diameter?) and I think that is why he had the starter interference with the headers.

Hooker plates will set the engine back further and might solve the tie rod interference with the oil pan. Mast is bringing out a cast pan with a shallower front depth which might also solve the problem. I'm waiting to see where they price it before deciding what to use for my 64 GTO.
