Hey guys,
I found a great way to do a rear swaybar on 2nd gen Fbodys. It gets rid of those flimsy brackets and makes for a very simple, clean and effective setup. Take a 3rd/4th gen rear swaybar (mounts to the axle tube with U-bolts) and point the ends of it towards the front of the car. It lines up almost perfect with the frame rails and you just need to fab up a simple/short bracket for the end links to go into. The pros are: its stiffer, more effective, simpler, better looking and lowers the weight (very slightly). The cons are you have added the weight of the swaybar to the unsprung weight.
I think its well worth it and wish I had seen it before I got rid of my camaro. Little upset that I didn't figure it out for myself considering how many times I have held a 4th gen swaybar in my hands.
