Hello,

I'm interested in trying to use Wilwood Calipers and 11" rotors
on my 9" Ford (Torino style new big bearing)

I need the total outer caliper diameter to be around 13.25 max to
fit inside some custom wheels.
I don't see that Wilwood has a standard offering, all of theirs seem to be too large.

Is it possible to adapt the calipers below and use some off-the-shelf rotors like from a 80's Trans-Am?
I have Strange S/S axles with a 4 3/4 bolt pattern.

An internal parking brake would be good but I'm thinking about using a pinion mounted parking brake.

Okay, I guess I didn't ask a clear question. Let me try one more time.

Could I use:

1. caliper brackets like these?

The 40120C is for large GM Calipers.

2. These Wilwood Calipers

3. 11" Rotors from a 79-80 Trans Am.
(I believe that is what most aftermarket brake suppliers are using when putting Cadillac Seville rear calipers on Ford 9 inch rears)

Would this work well on a 9 inch Ford?

I like these calipers and Wilwood doesn't really offer anything
to fit within a 15" wheel with deep backspace.

The rear TA calipers and Cadillac are the same bolt pattern as front GM "metric" calipers from 79 or so Malibus.

So be sure the spacing is correct on your caliper. Some of the circle track brackets use metrics others use the bigger front calipers from the F bodies.

I've drilled out the holes on the TA rotors to use 1/2" studs.

I will need to drill mine out for 1/2" studs, too.
I believe that the Wilwoods above fit exactly the same as the big GM F body calipers.

Looks like weld-on and clamp on brackets are available for the big calipers.

My main concerns are:

Will this set-up work with the Trans Am rotors...
And would this be a good set of rear brakes for a Tri-Five?

I can just buy a complete Currie rear brake kit but I like Wilwood calipers.

Thanks

As long as the calipers are designed for the rotor thickness should work.

FWIW my drag car is using those discs and cast iron metric calipers on the rear and fit a 15" wheel fine.

One of the guys in my warehouse area had a lifted 4WD tri 5 truck with the metric on the rear also til he needed an E brake for inspection and used a Caddy caliper. He liked it.

If you want to know what will clear your wheel, checkout Wilwoods site. If you look at the each caliper, you will find the radius dimensions for each using various sized rotors. There is a lot of mounting information on their site. Much more informative than any other vendor's site.

Wilwood does make a rea kit with integral parking brake and 12.88 rotor

Gus - if you want to use a parking brake caliper on your big ford chaek out these guys. This kit is what I am installing on my 67 'Bird with a big end 9". YOu'll find the Caddy calipers easy to find/rebuild. I may even have an extra pair I could sell you cheap. BUt give these folks a look and let me know.

I’ve talked with a Wilwood Tech and he couldn’t find a setup that would fit within a wheel
with a 13.25” inner diameter. Wilwood doesn’t make an 11” rotor rear brake setup for a
Big Bearing Ford.
