Has enyone converted a carb manifold to EFI ,and what did it cost? Where did you have it done, and how did it come out? Mine is a sbc Motown intake.
Thanks Wayne

I think with the EFI manifolds available today it is cost effective to purchase a new EFI manifold. Plus there is the expense of fabricating the fuel rails. if you purchase an EFI manifold, most likely there are kits available that include fuel rails and injectors.

I have had a few done on uncommon setups and you can figure 2-300 for the work and the fuel rails as long as it is not to complicated. Fuel rails are pretty easy to make if you enjoy that kind of thing. $12 worth of stock, a rented tool from Kinsler to cut the injector holes, and some pipe thread tapping on the ends. I have had local guys do them and have also used www.force-efi.com.

If you are interested I recently bought a complete thruster setup that has a dual sync distributor and a motown FI intake and throttle body, rails, and injectors all ready to go. I bought it to keep the thruster computer and the plan is to sell off the intake, distributor, etc. The below picture is the same thing as what I have. I can get an actual pic tonight. It is cheaper to buy a intake ready to go rather than modify a carb one, even if you already own the carb intake.

I had mine done at http://www.hotrodsolutions.net/ . Did a good job was about $500 when all said and done. Did mine this way just because my intake was a little unique (tall deck) and not too many aftermarket efi manifolds available

My 454 motown came with the Dominator flange. I want to keep the manifold thats on here. I have another full Fast bank to bank setup with an Edelbrock EFI manifold and TB and Fast ECU. I should just sell it and use that money. Thanks for the offer. Which motor is that one.

I had my Offenhauser modified at www.intakeelbows.com. He doesn't list the service any longer on his website but he may still do them, just have to contact him.

He did an excellent job and even angled my fuel injectors another 10* to have a little bit better shot at the valves.

I bought the fuel injector weld bungs and fuel rail stock from www.rossmachineracing.com and sent them along with my intake.

It's been so long since I had it done I don't remember the exact price but I think it was around $250 plus shipping.

I had them do a Edelbrock Air Gap EFI conversion for me a few years ago for my old 383 I was running, nice intake and the work and service was great from them.

Here's my converted Motown:

It would have been cheaper but I screwed up and removed too much material from the cast-in injector pads, hence the need for the welded on plates you see. All you need to do is drill holes in those pads for the injectors (using the spacing on your fuel rails as a guide) then figure out a way to retain your fuel rails at the proper height to hold the injectors in. That's what the vertical bars are on my manifold - the holes in them are aligned with the holes in my fuel rail. I can mock it up and send photos if you need.

I just got a price back from Intakeelbows its very reasonable. Less than $400 complete. I'm going to go with him. Quick turn around too.
Thanks Eveyone for the information.

I just sent mine to Marcella manifolds and was quoted $500(includes fuel rails). I would have bought an edelbrock efi but I have Pro-filer heads and a sniper intake so it would of cost me at least that in port matching and blending the runners. I'll post pics when I get it back.

Just got a knock on the door. My favorite person.:worship: My UPS driver! My intake is back from www.Intakeelbows.com (http://www.Intakeelbows.com) . I shipped it out the end of last month, and its back already. He does very nice work, I added a port for my AIT sensor. He said he didn't need to put a bung so he drilled and tapped it for ZIP! It was 408.25 shipped back to me with the polished rails. What a deal, my camara work needs alittle help.
Here's what I sent him

Very nice! Glad intake elbows worked out for you. I know when I had mine done he was the best deal around and did outstanding work!

I'd like to have the rails anodized probably black. The linkage is hitting the fuel rail. I can either put a small spacer or work on the linkage . We'll see if I have enough hood clearance.
Here it is.

I had a tuff time sleeping last night my wife thinks it from having the intake in bed under my pillow. NOT!

I had a slight issue with my throttle body linkage hitting one of the fuel rail supports welded to my intake. Luckily for mine I just needed to grind down the linkage slight and it works perfectly.

I would think they could have machined the injector pockets instead of welding the inserts in and that would have lowered the fuel rail enough to clear. Looks good anyway and nothing a little spacer won't fix.

Aaron told me he tried without the bung but to get a good seal on the top oring the injector was in the air flow of the runner. So he put the bungs in.
