30 Degree Temp Gain

I just install a F1R with a small block chev I relize the intercooler is blocking a lot of the radiator. Do you guys think a 30 degree temp increase on a very cool night should be relistic?

That would depend on how hot the max temp is. I know if it's running that much hotter at an easy cruise, it'll be overheating when pushed. Just like most other systems with forced induction, the cooling needs to be top notch for reliability. Good luck.

You need to make sure that all the air coming in the nose of your car is ducted through the radiator and/or intercooler. A lot of American cars let large amounts of air spill around the sides of the rad. Like Frank said, a topnotch system is needed - I had to do a big Griffin rad with 2 large puller e-fans strapped to the back to keep my temps sane.

Thats the route I was thinking about going with 2 1.5'' cores.

Yes, that's the one I have. I am happy with it and the price is much better than the <insane> Be Cool stuff.

A friend of mine is fighting the same thing on his D1SC 383. His intercooler is tucked right up against the radiator. Plus the design of the core support lets a lot of air go up and over the cooling system. We are hoping that by spacing the intercooler forward will help, along with adding a closeout panel.

I have yet do really do anything with this yet if anyone has maybe has an idea for me. Think its a toss up between the Ron Davis and a Griffen. I like the Ron Davis more with the fan set up for the slow speed stuff.

how much boost are you running and what is your base engine compression?

what temp is your water at after running for 15 minutes?

The ambient temp the radiator is seeing has a huge effect on cooling. Just think about how much cooler your car runs in the winter then dead of summer. The intercooler can be raising the ambient temp a lot seeing as it is directly in front of the radiator. What kind of fan set up is it? Mechanical or electric? How big fans? What kind of car?

If it is a G Body we can put a 34" core with dual 16s that will cool the Space Shuttle engine!

On a 65 degree night it likes to stay around 210 if I go up hills at all it goes up to 225 if I coast for a few miles it will cool back to 210. I would like to drive the car during the day with no thought of temp. I am running a duel 1'' core aluminum from northern radiator with 2 10'' fans and a full cowel over the back side so there is only the 2 10'' holes in the back. My thermostate is a high flow with 3 3/16 holes drill into it. The car is an 83 Buick regal with a chev 421 and procharger 10lbs at 6800 rpm. Dart Iron Eagle for a Block. AFR 227 heads
