I know they are heavier but any other drawbacks? More HP to drive? 9" just might be too expensive for this latest project. I need something that can handle a real 490 ftlbs of tq. Strange goes out the door for $1800 and are pretty stout. Always used 9" and was curious as to others opinions good or bad. I would even use the 68 Firebird's 8.2 but even with changing everything I feel it would just be on the edge. Thanks

Its huge. Exhaust fitment might be a problem if you were to go over the axle itself with larger tube diameters.

For it's size, it doesnt take any more power to turn, due to it's pinion center line. But the increase in rotational mass might be where it would equal the 9" in para. losses'.

I understand they can be a bear when/if it comes time change the gears or diff. The bearing seats have to be spread appart a few thou.(?)

Actually they make them with the smaller diam tubes and even the housing itself is a bit smaller than the truck version. DTS sells complete with Tru Trac for abot $2100 out the door. Strange is about $2000. Might be worth a shot. About a $500 savings. Thanks
