I painted my wheels not too long ago, probably a month, and haven't driven the car since. I painted them with a rustoleum hammered finish and has the textured finish to it. I was wondering if I could just sand it smooth, or should I make this a bigger project and use aircraft stripper or bead blast it. I want to paint it with a low gloss/satin engine paint.

Don't mess with stripper. IF you don't get it ALL off, the new paint won't stick. Spend the extra dough and get 'em bead blasted.

just get them blasted,it's so much faster, easier and in the end alot better,

Definitely need to be stripped or blasted, sanding it even with a fine grit will leave a bad finish on the new paint... If your on a budget and have the time, then I'd go with the Aircraft Stripper, Its not that bad, especially on fresh paint. It will bubble up and come right off, running the garden hose over it after the paint is all gone should take care of removing all the excess stripper, but you can wipe the wheels down with some rubbing alcohol after to be safe.

Good Luck,
