Hey Guys,

Just wanted to say hello. So I went to Road America for the second time last weekend and realized I HAVE to do this. I've been into the 1320 for the last couple years, but now I am feeling the bite of another type of speed bug. This should be interesting!!

What event did you do at Road America 1st? I keep wondering if you were at the Fbody event and we might have met?

Road America is an awesome track and a place you better be fully ready for or you will find what you lack in a hurry. I just loved the higher speeds and long laps.

Good to see you here and hope to meet you someday if we haven't.

Jim,

I wish I knew there was an F-body event there, I would have gone for sure. I was there for the June sprints, supporting the Weathertech guys.

Last year I was there with my uncle for a small event(I believe it was a Porsche event) that allowed street cars to "tour" the track. We were able to run about 7 laps, and hit 140+ on the back straight. He had an 08' vette procharged to 550rwhp. He has since upgraded to a 10' Grand Sport, again procharged. This one puts 601 to the rollers. Every lap he told me "well they are going to kick us off after this one so hold on!" AWESOME. Nothing like an adrenaline rush for 1/2 an hour to change your perspectives.

I'll have to check out the next f-body event and see what I need to modify on the car haha.

Regards,

Dave

Welcome! You can find groups running HPDE programs at most tracks. Even most of the brand groups will let others join in to help them differ costs. Then you can get your feet wet without having to do much to the car. Driving instruction is given to teach you "the Line" while you learn new driving techniques.

A day at the track just learning the ropes sounds good, I will definately check that out.

I am in St. Charles, IL. So if your out this way and see a black 79 TA, race me hahaa.

And thanks for the nice welcome everyone!

Dave

ps. I set up an Fquick account under 79bird99 if you want to see a couple pictures.

welcome...I do not have a Firebird but I am in Crystal Lake Illinois. I would love to do Road America but I have a heavy beast(1996 Impala). Good luck with your efforts to run Road America!
