I have done this in the past with no problems. A couple days ago the rear view mirror mount on the Monte came off & for the life of me cannot get it to stick back on. It sticks, but when I go to adjust the mirror it comes loose. Any tips? I have followed the instructions to a "T".

If you have an "Auto-glass Specialist" shop in town they do those for free w good commercial grade glue.

Rough up the spot where you are going to glue it on, I used a 90° sander. Mine stuck so well the last time the mirror got knocked off (it was a really big bump) the window cracked.

scrape the old adhesive off with a thin razorblade. Wipe down that spot of the windshield with a paper towel and 91% isopropyl rubbing alcohol (70 percent works too in a pinch). Repeat a few times just to make sure. Take the rearview mirror metal insert out of the mirror and use some 220 grit wet/dry paper on a flat backing to cut the surface that contacts the windshield (the narrow side in case you forget ), put some latex/nitrile gloves on if you got em and then wipe that down with the rubbing alcohol . Now with the gloves still on just follow the instructions on the windshield adheisve package, starting wherever it mentions to rub that activator stuff on the windshield. Let the puck cure on the windshield as long as possible, I prefer overnight, then snap the mirror back on, and you should be good for a few years.

I used to do these at gm dealer, clean the windshield strong solvent like carb cleaner, acetone, brake cleaner, then alcohol/alcohol based glass cleaner.
Take the button and rough it up on a piece of 50-80 grit cloth backed emery cloth, make sand marks in straight line.
Follow instructions, but hold in place 5 minutes after putting drop of glue on(yes use the primer /cleaner on the windshield) als have x of tape on button, after it has been held for 5 minutes give it 24hrs to catalyze properly especially if its real hot or cold.

What he said ..
Make sure to clean all the old adhesive from the windshield , AND from the metal mounting piece for the mirror ...
Use a good windshield adhesive (not super glue) ..
Rough up the back of the mounting piece with rough sandpaper.
Glue the metal piece to the windshield ( use tape to hold it firmly to the windshield )and let it dry for 24hrs in the shade ( or in the garage ) before hanging the mirror back on it ..
