Hey everybody, my name is Chad. I'm from Des Moines, Iowa and I just FINALLY purchased the 2nd gen Camaro that I've been planning in my head for about eight years now. I'm excited to get started but have a long way to go.

I come from the import world and have cut my teeth on fuel injection and turbos. I'd like to mix my love of old Camaro sheet metal and modern fuel injection and suspension.

Projects I've completed in the past have been squeezing a Nissan Skyline (Japan only) straight 6 DOHC engine (RB25DET first, later RB30DET) into a small Nissan 240sx. That car put down around 400 at the wheels and weighed about 2800 pounds so it felt pretty quick.

I just purchased a 1971 Camaro and my plan is to put an all aluminum L92 into it, but I'm not 100% sure on that yet. I'm also leaning toward ridetech air suspension as well. I'll also attempt to minitub it myself. I need to weld a new trunk pan in which I've never attempted before.

I look forward to asking you guys tons of questions along the way. :twothumbs

Thanks,
Chad

Welcome...there are plenty of 2nd gen guys on here to help out. Post some pics of what you're starting with when you get a chance.

Here's what I'm starting with.
The metal is all new in the front: fenders, hood, inner fenders, core support.
Rear quarters are new as well.

A partial trunk pan is needed, but doesn't look too bad to install now that I've taken a close look at it.

Interior is rough. I haven't taken the carpet out yet to get a good look at the floors, I have my fingers crossed.

The rear spoiler is obviously incorrect, so I'll be looking for those end pieces.

It's gonna be a long road, and I'll start with stripping the under body. Woo hoo!!!

Good luck with it. I confess I've always liked the '70-71 Camaros more than the '67-'69s.
