Thats a bear huh? Shooting all that paint. Nice to sit back and admire the new paint though. Have a drink. She looks great. And only two small runs. Yer a pro!!!!

Whats the plan for curing the paint. Im not a painter but I always wounder. Let her sit in doors for awhile to evap and set. then take her out in the sun light and heat to really set?

Something like that Id like to let it sit, gather some dust for a week or two then take it outside in the sun and bake for a lil time. Couple of baking sessions then maybe think about touching it.

Looks good!!! JR

Haha! I think I had too many drinks last night!:yum:

Well I baked the car in the booth for a half hour and she is still at my shop to let her set up a lil over night.Paint will continue to cure for about 30 days.Sunlight is great too! :) It depends on the clear you use..I used DC5300(RM) its a high solids baking clear. There are air dry clears too.
The only thing bad about a car sittin outside is the risk of bird poo.lol
Thanks for all the compliments! Makes me feel good! :-)

Are you kidding!!! Thats EXACTLY what you do after a good painting. Or in my case after any day still breathing LOL Yeah, you have to celebrate.

Sounds like you are doing what I would do, let the coats settle out and cure abit. Yeah, dont want any bird or bug poo. Lil flying poop shooters.

So what then? Do you buff it out with a machine? Some light abrasive. Then apply some wax. Gonna be nice. I wish I was there.. Errrr!!! Some day down the road. Im in black primer and I think its my future for some time. Yeah, Im jealous.. JR

I am definately going to wet sand and buff her out..
awww...no need to be jealous! Good things come to those who wait!!
Trust me...if my boss wasnt cool...It would have been difficult to get this far this fast!
Do you have a color picked out for your ride?

HAHAHAHA.... Just messing with you Brandi. Looks like it turned out great, and the stripes on the hood came out way better than I first thought. You planning on doing any painting on the wheels? One of these weekends I gotta get back up there and check it out.

And is it me or does it look like my brother just tripped and is about to fall on his ass in this pic?

I thought you were to wait a month or so before cutting and buffing..... true? Mine will be done this summer... in the garage. Shhhh, don't tell the EPA! Looks great by the way.

The car looks great. I love the stripe and how you pulled it off on the hood. I usually don't like those hoods on third gens, but with that stripe it looks right.

Nooo...we cut and buff cars next day at the shop. However we do get to bake our clear. It is nice to let the clear "breath" after wetsanding.Your not supposed to wax fresh paint till after at least 60 days.
I went to an EPA class last fall and you are allowed to paint 2 cars in your garage as long as there is no money exchanged. Its a dumb rule but whatever!!
Keep me posted!! I would love to see some pics.:)

Wow, it's been a long time since I posted on here.Been enjoying driving the Camaro.Sold my bike.
My brother completely spoiled me and bought me a '71 GMC pickup.Soooo....now I'm contemplating selling the Camaro to fund the build for the truck....it's tough cause I'm greedy and I'd love to keep both.lol
I have bigger plans than I do money for the truck...It's going to need new doors, the fenders are somewhat fixable but new ones aren't that expensive.I'd like to get a tilt steering column, needs A LOT of suspension goodies, I'd like to put a 5.3L in it and turbo.
My favorite paint color is gloss black...but..it's a PITA to keep clean. My 2nd favorite is pearl white.Im really diggin the pearl white that's on the Mazda 3. It's bright white not that cream looking pearl white.
The truck does already have a steel cowl hood and roll pan.
We already went ahead and put some SLP loud mouth mufflers on it.Put some cool tips on it and have them exit out in front of the tire. She sounds so naughty!lol
I did however keep the stock wheels from the Camaro.Im going to paint them. The rear tires are new but Im going to throw some cheap ones on the front....and maybe sell the Camaro.
I've already got spacers to fit the Camaros wheels onto the truck, so at least I won't have to worry bout wheels and rubber for a while.I love my Camaro I really do.However I love these trucks and it's a dream come true to own one, especially the GMC.The only thing I'm not in love with about the truck is that it's an automatic, but oh well. :-/
Well, I'd like some opinions...would you guys sell the Camaro to build the truck?
My Z28...

We tinted the tail lights and I wetsanded and buffed the whole truck cause it had some horrible orange peeled paint...
