Rain or Shine
Here we go again. It's time for another Run Thru The Hills event in Pigeon Forge TN. Bill Howell of MuscleRides.com (http://www.musclerides.com) has once again organized what promises to be an unforgettable event: the sixth annual MuscleRides.com Run Thru The Hills. Scheduled during the beautiful mid September weather of "God's Country" Tennessee, this event will feature a plethora of pro-touring cars and enthusiasts; autocrossing, drag racing, Speedstop Challenge and a cruise through the back hills --what more could a pro-touring enthusiast ask for?
Want more? Not only is this event a qualifying event for the Optima Batteries Ultimate Streetcar Invitational (http://www.optimainvitational.com/) it's your last chance to win an invite for the 2010 event at a qualifying event.
Want even more? Each ticket will qualify you for a drawing for a grand prize on Sunday. Yes, once again Forgeline (http://www.forgeline.com/) and Prodigy Customs (http://www.prodigycustoms.com/) has stepped up and will offer a FREE SET of FORGELINES (http://www.forgeline.com/) to that lucky participant. Watch for official rules soon.
Join us and experience what pro-touring is all about: three days filled with good times, good friends and of course, the meanest Pro-Touring cars around. This event is the perfect opportunity to safely test your car's performance on the autocross track, dragstrip, Baer Brakes (http://www.baer.com/) Speedstop Challenge as well as means of putting faces to the names you've chatted with all year on the forum. We're all aware of the enormous amount of hard work and preparation that goes into building a well sorted g-machine: this is your chance to show off what your car can really do.
This years event will be 3 days of fun, sun and pro-touring.
The basic schedule
Friday Sept 17 - Bill's back-road-boogie, "Run Thru The Hills"
The g-machine enthusiast's dream cruise: a twenty mile run through the premiere twisting roadways of the Smokey Mountains. Followed afterwards by "supper" at a location to be announced soon. Registration for the event opens at noon at the Mainstay Suites, and the cruise starts at 4:00pm sharp. Dinner will start at approximately 6:00pm
Saturday Sept 18 - Autocrossing at Smokies Stadium (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Knoxville+TN&ie=UTF8&ll=35.988659,-83.604648&spn=0.004158,0.007231&t=k&z=17&om=1).
Bill has managed to secure Smokies Stadium again as the location for the autocross event. The track layout will be fast and technical and is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
8am: Meet at Smokies Stadium for Autocross
Drivers meeting time TBA soon (about 8am)
Lunch details TBA soon
3pm: Autocross ends
Sunday Sept 19 - Drag racing and Baer Brakes (http://www.baer.com/) Speedstop Challenge at 411 Dragway.
Come on out and practice that '60 time in your g-Machine.
8am: Drag racing/Speedstop Challenge starts?
2pm: End event
We expect to see an increased attendance again this year, so sign up soon. Space is limited. Cut off year wise for cars will be 1987. Those that have attended before with newer cars will be "grandfathered". Please check with Bill if you have a question concerning this new rule. RTTHs has gotten very popular, so to be sure we have enough space for true musclecars, we have to have a cut off now.
Take a look at the location of this year's autocross location: Smokies Baseball Stadium

And the best part? It's inexpensive.
Costs are a low $50 to participate in the autocross and only $30 for the drag racing/speedstop Challenge or sign up for both for only $75
Dinner will be $18 per plate
Event T-shirts are $20 for Small-XL and $22 for 3XL and 4XL
(Additional donations will be accepted)
Bill has once again reserved 40+ rooms at the Mainstay Suites, the same hotel that hosted everyone the last few years. The location is ideal as it's close to Bill's house and shop; the hotel is very clean and its operators are truly great people: they pretty much give us the keys to the place and we will certainly use them. They are located approximately two blocks off the parkway and are accessible by backroads; with the Fall Grand Run also scheduled for the weekend of September 18th that's a good thing. There are several other good hotels in town, but they are always pre-booked for this particular weekend. I'd like to fill up this place as everyone is at the same hotel this way. There are not many rooms left, so book yours today if you still need one! Be sure you tell them you are with Pro-Touring group or they may tell you that they are full.

The Fall Grand Run, which is the largest car show of the year in Eastern Tennessee, is located just two blocks from the host hotel. There is plenty to see and do for your wife and children.
Vendor space at the autocross will be available this year. It will be $300 for a 20x75 space. Space at the drag strip is free, but is limited to those that participated in the vendor space at stadium.
It will also include two dinners for Friday night. The regular price will apply for vendor participating cars. If you are someone you know might be interested please contact Bill Howell.
The Autocross is sold out!
