View Full Version : Which 02 sensors have the longest wire?

Getting ready to put my LS2 with headers into my car and have to buy a couple 02 sensors. I think I saw somewhere that the Corvette sensors have the longest wire on them. Can anyone confirm this? Trying to avoid lengthening the wire if I don't have to.

The Corvette rear sensors are the long ones. Make sure you specify the rear ones and not the front ones.

Don, thank you. Are both the front and rear oxygen sensors? I would have figured by 2005 the fronts would be air/fuel ratio (wideband) sensors. Also, is the connector the same or will I have to buy the connector body to plug into my engine harness?

The sensors and connectors are identical as far as I know but I used the ones from an 02 Corvette since my LS1 is from a 4th gen F body. I assumed that was the case for an LS2 but now you've got me wondering. Maybe we need an expert to step in. Another way to find out is look up the front and rear sensor part numbers for an LS1 and LS2 Corvette at autozone etc.

The part numbers will be different if even the wire lenght is different. Jeff Tate on here is a Chevy parts guy, maybe he could check on part numbers for us. Others must have run into this issue too I assume.

I looked up both GTO and Corvette from 2005 and according to Alldata it has regular 02 sensors in all positions. I'm just overthinking it a bit. I'm familiar with Toyotas that have been using a wideband 02 (or air/fuel ratio sensor) for quite a few years now.

So, the only issue really is if a Corvette connector will plug into my GTO harness?

The LS2's did not use any long sensors. If you are using an LS2 ECM (E40 or E38) then get the proper front sensor for the application and use proper extension harnesses as needed.

If it is an LS2, but using an older LS PCM and harness for a 99-02 F-Body or 99-03 Vette, then the 97-03 Vette rear sensors should work

I have seen quite a few issues arise from splicing the harnesses in that the sensor is very sensitive to any different resistance then what it is calculated for and that can throw off the readings and therefore throw off the tune.

Hope this helps.

That's a big help Mike. It's the orig LS2 GTO PCM that I got with the engine. Are the extension harnesses readily available or do I have to get all the individual components and make one up? If the latter, do you happen to have part numbers and any other info needed to complete the task? Thanks a lot!

I answered your PM, but did not know what PCM you had. The connectors for your front sensors whould be a white or light grey 4 wire square. I carry them as does Summit in the Caspers brand. Seeing as I will not be back in the shop till Monday, Summit may be the answer or Caspers direct from the Chicago area.
