I tried this new product out thinking it was snake oil but wow did it work. I put a old rotor (rotor looked like it was outside for years ok it was lol) in the solution took it out the next day and it looked new,it took all the rust off. This product is enviormentally friendly, you can dump in in the sewer and does not hurt your hands or skin. It doesnt hurt plastic or paint just the rust

Now am I the only one that did not know about rustrelease or ?? Anyone elses opinons?

if you want to see it the website is rustrelease.com i know there are some other companies making things similar this is the one i used.

sound interesting Does the part have to be submerged?? or can you just spray it on?

from my hours of research it has to be submerged. They do make a gel that clings to things better that you just leave on. I also tried that not as good as soaking but it works.

You could make a system with a pump system that sprays the chemical on it full time. Its very easy to do i have seen on the internet people doing large objects this way like hoods, roofs and so on.

I use Evapo-Rust. Yesterday another pallet of the stuff showed up!

Before and after of a transmission with fluid running on it. And just before I installed it this past weekend.

I have been using this stuff since 2004. I just viewed the rustrelease website and its price is nearly double...

TKS!

Less than 1/2 of the rust release. I normally buy a few cases at a time to save $. I would be curious to try them same time to see how they compare but the rust release is outrageously priced. I may get a small amount just to see how it works in comparison. I wonder if rust release is a spin off of evapo or the other way around?

so you are paying 12.50 or so a gallon for evapo-rust?

I think i bought mine for 25.00 a gallon or aroud that price. Either way i am happy it worked well alot better that blasting. And it did remove the rust like they said

$19.99 at Harbor Frieght. With 20% off that brings it to $16.00 per gallon.
I bet it would be cheaper by the pallet.

Although I never tried it, molasses will also remove rust. There is plenty of information about it on the web.

The local auto zone's have it for 9.95 per qt. I found if I buy enough for at least 1/2 pallet the shipping is 165.00 and I can put up to 100 gallons on it for that amt. Last order was 54 gallons for 165 shipping. total per gallon with shipping turned out to be approx 13.50 per gallon. I buy cases and 5 gallon pails. (4 gallons per case) Takes only one wk to get from order time to door. Harbor freight is a pretty good deal if a person only wants a small amount.

Another method, if you're interested, is electrolytic rust removal

I've tried this as a proof of concept on a few of my parts. It works great. As long as you have a battery charger, materials are relatively inexpensive.
If you do try this, keep in mind Washing Soda is not the same as Baking Soda. They both come in a similar box, but the contents are not the same.
