It was my pleasure to host a BBQ for you guys! I had a great time with everybody here.. Got a whole new group of friends that I got to meet..

The Autocrossing was great! But I kept getting lost in the cones! LOL... My 68 was not ready for some serious abuse.. got a new sub-frame we are building for it... & see what other extra parts I have lying around.. It will be ready for the next event..

Great Pics Larry!!!!! Thanks for getting them posted!!! Also thanks for getting this event put together--was a great time. The drive home was, in itself, worth the trip. The coast was perfect--sunset, clear---just an awesome drive.

I finished a quick facebook album. Here's the public link for anyone interested.

I only got one video during this trip. It turns out I brought my camcorder with a dead battery and no charger. The video I do have is from the go-pro from my last two runs.

Whoa, Bro! Don't hate. That dude had a bomb 335i, I'm pretty sure KFED, if he even has a BMW has only got the 328i.

Here is a pic Larry took. When I saw it I almost expected him to be wearing his helmet sideways

So what did I miss with the "yo dog" stuff?

Matt@BOS
09-21-2010, 08:01 PM
Did you not hear, or see the the kid in the 335i? He was rocking a basketball jersey or something and was just really frat bro-ish, in the most retarded sort of way. If you have to think for more than a couple seconds, whether or not you saw him, you probably missed him.

That's it! The immense downforce of the front wing much suck the rocks right off the ground, hence the need for all the tape. Even the rear rooftop spoiler got the tape treatment!

So how were the turbos on the Auto-x. Were you under boost the entire ride? How controllable was it. Im looking at a turbo setup for mine.

I can't believe how much the outside tires are warping... also can't believe the damn thing stuck in the long sweeper.

After the big turn all the fast chicanes on the return leg is where I had to fight to keep it from sliding around... hard transitions under full throttle = interesting times.

My gearing wasn't ideal for this track either, couldn't run 1st gear all the way, kept hitting the 6300rpm limiter, and 2nd gear was ok was mid range rpm. Luckily the 6 liter has good low-mid torque, but coming into that stop box at the end before the finish killed my power cause it put me too low of rpm. So, I had to time a downshift coming into that box. Except the transmission is really touchy about downshifts when you're up in the RPM's. So as I braked for the stop box I just kept hitting the shifter 'down' so it'd downshift when it could... seemed to work.

I miss having a clutch... lol

Also, being a airplane nut... I had a blast watching the planes land right over us, that was cool.

Except... on one of my runs, on the return leg a plane was landing and was right in front of me basically... so, having the attention span of a gnat I was like "oh, sweet... a Cessna! Oh crap CONES!"

I know that had to cost me a few tenths... lol

Not only is the front tire holding on for dear life, the rear tire is flexing pretty good too!

The Red Bull helicopter was pretty cool too. Pretty neat being that close and it just doing it's thang.

They were not a problem. The speeds were low enough they didn't make much boost except for a couple of spots where I could put my foot in it. I will zoom in on the video an look at the boost gauge tomorrow night.

Guys, did anyone end up with a list of the times at the end of the event? Does the club post those anyplace that we could see them?

I zoomed in on the video last night. It never made more then 5 pounds of boost. It was easy to control.

Hey guys,
I bit late with the post, but that's me. It was a great time I had for my first ever auto cross. I was truly humbled by the course. It is nothing like running a road course. Some of your pro-touring cars put my Z06 to shame although by the end of the day I believe I was drifting more than turning.

Met a great guy, Chris w/JCG and last week, I dropped off my restored '89 IROC-Z at his shop. Chis is going to some light mods (brakes, suspension, tires and wheels) and we will see how that works. I'll either keep building up the IROC or we might start a new 2nd Gen project. We'll see.

Again, thanks to all the guys that made me feel welcome at the event.
