View Full Version : Autokraft LS3 Oil Fiter Adapter Modification

I've installed the engine, transmission and headers in "No Name" but have discovered that the headers interfere with the cover that goes right above the oil filter.

Here's the adapter and the headers:

Here's the cover that needs to be bolted to the adapter right where the headers are nearest to the adapter:

My tentative plan is to have the oil filter adapter hogged out between the two sides, so the crossover otherwise provided by the cover is entirely within the oil filter adapter, and then to have a flat plate made to seal the opening.

Any reason anyone can think of why this is won't work?

I'll update the project thread with pictures and narrative, but I wanted to get on this issue ASAP.

Should work fine Mike.

Instead of having a plate bolted to the surface you may want to consider sinking a 1/8" thick aluminum plate recessed into the surface and welded into place. It would help to increase the clearance to the header and decrease the chance of leakage.

Good thought - any ideas on fabricators?
