Hi,
The trans pan in my '72 Chevelle SS (100% stock, 56K mi) looks to be rusted through and the cause of a significant leak. I want to keep the car all GM and stock. I'm having a hard time finding a new pan that has the drain plug. The dealer can get a '76 passenger car pan, but it doesn't have a drain.
Anyone know where to get an OEM pan with the drain?

Pretty sure there's no such thing. If you want to stick with a GM pan you'll probably have to just weld on a nut and install your own drain plug.

Yeah, the parts guy didn't believe me that it had a drain. The car has been in the family since new and I know it's all stock.
I'll keep poking around, I wish I could find a NOS one.

Early Th350's had a drain plug stock on the front of the pan.
NOS will be tough but the pans are out there.

I doubt I'll find a PN. There might be one listed on a service manual or Hollander interchange.
From what I've gathered over the last few days, this style pan was only made for a few model years and '72 looks to be the last year. I haven't found any old stock, but I have some leads on good used pans.
Thanks for everyone's input.

Vince,
I'm in Detroit. I've got one on the way and the original is coming off this afternoon. Thanks for the offer. I'll let you know what I need.
Thanks again,

I wish someone would start stamping the old style TH350 pans again.
Just a good quality stamping with drain plug like the early TH350 pans. No chrome.
69-72 is probably about right for the OEM drain plug style pan. I probably have a couple of used ones as well but a GOOD used TH350 pan is a needle in a haystack these days.

and not made in China. Those pans are so thin.

Vince,
My pan came in today, it's great around the edges and rust free, but slightly concave from bearing the weight of the transmission. I doubt there's anything I can do to flatten it. I do appreciate you going through all that trouble though. Hopefully someday I can buy you a beverage at a future event.

no problem, any time.
they usually oil can dent, just flip it over and give it an easy whack with a rubber mallet. usually pops right out.
