Okay, dear god i hope this question hasn't been asked so much I get jumped buuuttt....I have a complete '00 Camaro LS1 rear brake setup (rotors, calipers, abundment..etc.) that I'm using on the chevelle. Out of curiousity, are the C5 rear calipers or rotors interchangeable with my setup? Thanks.
I ask because my rear is being fabbed and my guy said to send him everything and he'll weld up the right end for the abundment and make sure it all fits/operates correctly. My whole front setup is C5 and it seems I can get a much better deal if I buy all the front/rear brake hardware as a pakage so it all matches. Thanks guys! :hammer:
i believe the C5 calipers are almost the same but the abutement is different. also the rotors are directional, the fins in the vents are pitched. but you can still use them. I think this is right

So I can take rear rotors meant for a C5 vette and use them in place of the rear rotors for the '00 Camaro? If that's the case, it would be way cool....
I think so, but can't say for sure, there might be a possibility of the wrong offset on teh rotor. Try calling discbrakesrus they might know.

Thanks Cody.....I'll stop being lazy and do more reaserch. I tried matching AC Delco part numbers but no dice so I'll call...

zefhix,
I have a chart (from EBC brakes website) that list the braking thickness and total thickness of just about any rotor application. The camaro rotor seems to have about a 1/2" more "hat" offset than the vette.
Take care,
Shane

i had a friend build some spacers for the camaro backing plate so i could run C5 rotors. he has them available now for around $60.00 a set. i also used the C5 calipers in the ls1 abudments, the ls1 brake cables etc. looks like it's going to work but having some problems with prop valve from master power brakes. when i get a new one from someone else i'll let you know how they work.

So....if I understand you correctly you've taken the LS1 rear abudments and bolted stock C5 calipers to them (with no modification) and then a spacer between the axle and the rotor to use a stock C5 rotor too? If it actually works sign me up for the spacers!!! I'm definitely interested!

the spacer is needed to move the backing plate out into the rotor so the parking brake works. i really couldn't find anyone that had done this so i ended up buying both the C5 components and the LS1 stuff, then figured out what it took to bolt them up. i need to check the part numbers of the stuff i have left to see what i actully used but i believe you have it right, C5 calipers in LS1 abutments bolted to the LS1 backing plate, spacer between the rear axle and backing plates then a C5 rotor. i also used the LS1 parking brake cables. sorry but it's going to take some time before i'm able to look at everything and i can get pictures but i've put it away for now. racing this weekend and other car needed attention! maybe next week.
