Hi im Nathan,

I have a 1986 Mustang SVO that I have been fixing up as I DD the car about 130-140mi 4 days a week and play in on weekends (if im not fixing it:hmm:). Got it about 4 months ago. Car has 2.3 turbo, 5 speed, 3.73s, TC intercooler with mitsubshi BOV, MBC, AFPR, MSD coil and wires, 3" down pipe with no cat, dynomax 2.5" catback, 17" 95 corba rims, driled and sloted rotors, B&M shifter, Koni adj. shocks, Eibach springs, K&N fillters, Royal Purple fluids, and fresh Felpro gaskets. Have to tuned in at 18 psi on 93 pump gas. It took a little wile to get all the bugs out and get every thing working together. But now it is running good and getting around 30mpg highway! If I keep my foot out of it:bsjerk: even my kids love hearing the turbo:headbang:

I have come on here before a few times lookig at stuff for work and thouhgt I would stop and say HI and show off my toy:cheers:

cool. I always liked the SVO. it was amazing that Ford was able to market 2 completely different performance versions of the same car (the other being the 5.0 of course :) )
there's another dude on here somewhere w/ a merkur Xr4ti w/ a lot of work done to it.

Good memories. A silver 86 Mustang SVO was my first new car when I graduated from college. I sold it in 1989 and bought a used 1984 Corvette. Big mistake!

Neat lil motors...pretty good powah considering the displacement. Those cars seemed to me to be pretty balanced front to rear.

Welcome aboard! I had a black '85 I took from High School off to college. Wish I still had it! One of the most fun cars I've driven, even with the 175hp version from '85. Excellent balance, dynamics, and loved the sound of that big T3. WooT!

Thanks everyone!

I love this car, handling is grate despite the 25 year old bushings, pulls hard thru all the gears and gets good MPG! Just plan fun to drive.

Future plans are a set of CC plates, polly bushings, new rack and ends, 8.8 or Irs fron a corba, Put the TC sway bars on, subframe conectors, FMIC, header, Holset, ported big valve head, boport cam, ported lower intake, custom upper SC TB, piggyback the EEC, bigger injectors, Procar seats, GPS navi, more autometer gages, wether striping, stock clutch has to go, and everything cleaned and pollished.
Then I will do my magic and the body and paint. Since that is what I do for work. I love my job! I get to bulid cool car and work with a verry good team at V8TV!:twothumbs

Welcome !
I'm a Fox Mustang guy myself. I've had at least 15 Foxes and alot of other early Mustangs. I have always loved the SVO, but never had one (had several 85 & 86 GT's). I have actually been thinking about one recently as a DD that is cool, can hit the track, and still gets good fuel mileage.

Do you regularly see high 20's to 30 ? What about 1/4 mile track times?

I get about 18 city and 30 highway and averages around 22-25 per tank, and i have fun not just puting around. 15 beating on it the whole tank was the worst I have got. Have not got to the track yet but im thinking some where in the 13s.

I helped a friend out in college fix his 85 (maybe it was an 86) SVO all the time. I think I helped push start it at least three times. He had an alternator that would loose the one wire connection. Nice to see another SVO. Not sure where you are but there are a lot of them running around Houston, Texas.

I like it. The SVO's have always been cool in my opinion. I like the hood and the rear wings.

Makes me wish i had the time and $$ to restore the one i recently had to sell. It needed alot of work and hard to find parts for it. I always wanted to see what it was going to be like to drive it when it was done...Here it is before i sold it
