TH350 vacuum line

What size line is needed for the vacuum modulator and does it have to be steel or can I use a reinforced rubber hose? It's going on a 69 chevelle.

1/4". I have run basic vacuum tubing from the big box auto stores carb to trans. Just keep it clear of anything hot.
