Was curious to know if anyone uses different size wheels in the front vs the rear - I am currently using 16x8 all around - but I am considering using 17x7 in the rear, and keeping the 16X8 in the front.

On my 62 Nova I am running 15X7 on the front and 16X8 in the rear. I went this way because of the difference in the fender opening front to rear (Well that and I was on a tight schedule/budget). I think when I pull the car apart again, I will do 17s and maybe 18s.

Running 16X8 in the front and 17X7 in the rear would make for a very strange handling beast. Why in the world would you want to run a narrower rim in the back?

I'm currently running a 16x8 front and 17x8 rear.

Woudl like to switch to a 17 18 combo at some point.

The reason why I am asking - is because - I can get a good deal on 17x7 wheels and rubber for the rear - as my current rear which is 16x8 with a 4 in backspacing - disc brakes - stock 12 bolt leaf rear - NON rolled quarter lip - as such - on occassion the rear tires rub against the bottom of the quarter panel - the price it would cost me to buy two new 16X8 with a larger backspacing would be about the same as purchasing the two 17X7 with a 5 in BS. I was wondering from an appearance standpoint - if anyone else was running larger wheel sizes in the rear and smaller in the front - almost like a "hot rod" style.

It can work...I would only do it if the rear was going to be wider....say 17x9.5. If I had the 17x7 choice I would stick with the 16x8 and massage the inner fender. :)
