Ok so its time to fix my leaking oil pan, i'm thinking i need to pull the motor to do this, car has a 9 qrt road race milodon with a bad gasket, i used the blue one piece rubber, any suggestions on a better sealing method, a prefered silicone sealant maybe with cork? has anyone done this without pulling the motor completely out? this is a BB in a 68 Camaro.
Thanks for any advice.

Gonna have to pull motor. A friend of mine helped me replace mine today and taught me a few things. We used brake clean to clean the surfaces and then scuffed block lightly with 220 grit sandpaper. Then placed a bead of Permatex Right Stuff to block. We then sprayed carb cleaner on the cork gaskets(all I could get at the time) and let them dry out in the sun. He said it would insure a better seal. Then we placed gaskets and then another bead of Permatex Right Stuff. Then we placed pan and lightly snugged bolts. Waited 45 minutes then lightly snugged them again. I think I went another 3 0r 4 times lightly snugging because they felt like they were loose each ntime I went back(could be cuz of cork gasket). I never used cork before and Its probably because I'm not comfortable using it and this time around confirmed why.

it can be done in the car but its work. I've dropped the subframe with the engine supported up top before. Depends on the car and pan used.
Be sure to use the gaskets with the metal inserts around the bolt holes.

I used one of those one piece oil pan gaskets , and it seeped at the front and rear .
It did not leak on the sides..
I think the cork is fine if you install it correctly. ( Like you did)
So many people put too much sealer on them and overtighten them..
The way you did it , by tightening in stages , is the best way..

Very Important to tighten in stages and just barely snug them each time. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!
