I have been looking for a fiberglass hood, Yenko style like the one below.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=34204&item=4544181853&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

Does anybody know if they are made? Any input would be appreciated.

I believe it was a Baldwin Motion hood.

Called Classic Industries and was told they do not have them nor did they ever sell them. They had a prototype which never got licensed so it never went to market. They still had an order/waiting list two years old! Can they really be that hard to find?? When was the last time anybody saw them besides in pictures?

Sorry Classic has the twin nostril style hood. Try this: http://www.vfnfiberglass.com/site.htm (VFN fiberglass)

Or www.up22.com (unlimited products). I have heard VFN has better quality. Also, U.P. is pretty slow since they don't build it until you order it.

Classic was not able to produce one for a year we neede for Prodigy. I found them somewhere else, but they are expensive. $750 and going up $50 next month. Bill is bringing me one for Prodigy as we speak, in fact he picked it up an hour ago. It is a 67 Yenko hood, also Nickey, Bill Thomas and Motion. But is widely refered to as a Yenko "Stinger" hood.

FYI, there has been one on e bay a guy claims to have a few. Looks like he plays with the bidding pushing them to $600, but never hitting reserve. It looks like junk and he will not answer question. VFN and unlimited are more racing hoods,, and not really the quality we expect for Pro Touring.

Frank, have you already taken a look at the hood from Bill? How is the quality and finish on it? Does it have the opening in the hood scoop or is it closed? If you don't mind saying, from where did you order it?

I have seen the hoods. The guy that makes them is a friend of mine, They are pretty nice. Finished on both sides, others are not. I did not buy one earlier because i was waiting for OER (Classic Industries) to get them as my cost was listed at half the price of these.
I got this Bill grabbed for a steal deal. Bill knew someone that bought the hood and did not use it, and must not know about e bay, LOL! I got it for less then my friend would sell it to me. Rick's does sell them, also Camaro Specialties. I could see what kind of deal I can get you. Don (the guy making them) told me he is raising his price $50 for increased resin cost. Don also informed me he is not retailing now that he has dealers selling them.
The scoop is not cut out, nor should it be. In fact I just scored a NOS bezel for mine

Stay away from Unlimited Products unless you have unlimited funds to spend trying to get the thing to fit. I got one of their cowl hoods for my 73... :barf:

Frank and all others...thanks for the great info and I would truly appreciate it if you can hook me up with a hood from your buddy. I am ready to buy and I know I can trust your judgement/evaluation of the hood. Just wondering, can you attach the hood latch on it? Is it steel reinforced?
As I PM'd you late last month, I am waiting on the car to get out of paint jail. Nice score on the bezel, you must spend alot of time on eBay (I do too) or were very lucky! LOL! BTW, that was me that won that eBay item. Luckily, I was emailed by several other former bidders to not pay for that hood, they saw through the seller but I did not (he has some bad feedback). OF course, I will not purchase it.
Funny, I was also looking for a bezel, if I am thinking along the lines as you are, then I must be doing something right!

You can get the bezel repro, as NOS probably will never happen again in the history of the world.

I will call Don tomorrow about the hood.

I talked to Don, he has one hood ready to go that I can have at the old price. You can have it for $750.00. Apparently Rick's is out right now. I'm unclear as to weather Rick's will have a price increase. I suggest if you want this hood to call me today and I will lock it up. four zero seven-832-1752.
