in my 69 camaro im running a set of summit racing seats ive always wanted harnesses but im not running a cage so that wont work to well and i know the morris belts are really good but i just wanted the look and feel of harnesses. but on the other hand when u are strapped in and just cruising u cant even reach the radio. what about female passengers my girlfriend isnt to crazy about that idea. is there any other options and are the morris belts that good and go well with a non orignal interior.

what kind of belts do you have now? The morris belts seem like standard seat belts, at least their 3 point belts do. I don't know if you might be talking about a diffrent part than I found. If you have a link or a pic you should post it(for those lazy readers like me). I am in the same boat as you with the harness. I always thought it would be cool if there was a retractable 4 point harness.

There is this option as well

I just put a Morris Classics set in my car.

I've had 5 point in other cars...and the lap only in the Camaro.

I have to say the quality, fit, and ease of installation with the Morris is top notch.

You can't go wrong with them.

they look solid but they still aren't the 4 point I'm looking for. I think there could be some money made off a retractable 4 point that maybe even had a quick connect.

By the way, I did a ton of research on this before pulling the trigger on the Morris 3 pt belts.

The problem with putting a 4 or 5 pt system into a car that doesn't have a cage is you don't have the proper place to mount the shoulder belts. Some guys mount them to the floor. If you do this and have a collision it will compress your spine and you end up with a worse problem than what you were trying to solve.

If you weld a bar across the lock pillars to attach it to, you fix the alignment problem, but now your back seat is virtually impossible to use.

If you put a full cage in a street car, you either plan on never having back seat passengers, or you plan on making them where SA2000 or SA2005 helmets when they ride back there or even a minor fender bender will put their head into the bar and cause some serious brain scramble. Same goes for the front passengers if the bars are too close to the seat. Considering you can't and shouldn't wear a helmet while daily driving - having a roll bar next to your head is just not practical for a "street" car.

It is a pickle. How do you get the crazy cool race car look and feel of a full harness WITHOUT all the baggage that comes with it?

The next best option is to have seats made to use the harness. In this case they must be proper seats with proper reinforcement to do the job. This can work very well - except these kinds of seats aren't going to fold so that people can get into the back - so you are back to deciding is your car a four seater in name only...or do you really ever plan on using that thing behind the first row?
