Hello Everyone,

It has been awhile but I had to put the Nova on hold and focus on work because of the lack of additonal heads at my job. Things are starting to pickup and hiring has begun so this gives the rest of us that survived the layoffs a chance to breathe a little.

Anyway, I completed the supension and brake upgrade on the Nova, thanks again Tobin for putting up with my constant emails asking questions.

I took the car for a drive and first of all the braking is like night and day over the 4 wheel drums I had before. The issue I am having now is the car still seem to float as it goes down the road. I have installed an all Hotchkis supension as well as all new steering components as well as steering box. So I determined that the the issue has to be the body bushings.

Would worn out body bushings give the car a floating sensation or is there something I possibly missed during the install\upgrade?

1. Alignment.
2. Wider tires causing tramlining.
3. Something else

.
n. Body bushings

Seriously. Body bushings will be felt more in terms of slop in a turn, not necessarily gown down the road.

Hi Brian, welcome to the site.

Worn body bushings would most likely cause a harsh ride. As the bushing wear the rubber material would deteriorate and you would have a metal to metal contact.

Is it a loose feel or maybe you are riding on soft soil? What shocks?

Toe adjustment might change the way a car feels.

Thanks guys for the responses. The car is on wider tires now, 17x8s on the front and rear. Very likely it is a alignment issue as this was the first trip out of the garage since the suspension has been done. I just drove it down the street and then back to the garage.

MrQuick, the car feels loose when going down the road. I am going to replace the body bushings anyway and tow the car to the alignment shop to be on the safe side. It feels like I have the orginal steering box in the car. Before I touch the adjustment nut on the top of the gearbox I will have the alignment done first.

Thanks again!

have you checked or done alignment after replacing suspension? ,as others mentioned, it's most likely the car is out of alignment
