Grassroots Motorsports magazine is featuring Glenn Bunch's Challenger in the August issue. There might not be much of the original Challenger left, but this car is still a homegrown hot rod--Honkin' Hemi and all. Race cars like this give us something to cheer for. The link below shows the car running at well over 170 mph at VIR and lapped at an insane 1.53.6

That is one of my favorite cars !!!
I wish I had a '69 Camaro built along the same ideas and style !!
wow what a way-cool video. you can tell his acceleration and braking are killer just from the video!
Loved watching the little g-meter to the left of the Tach too...cool.

Wow Steve, you don't see alot of old school Hemi's going on the road course anymore. Nothing cooler then Mopar E bodies. Ron

It's odd to see a road race car operate at such low revs. I like watching that car bleed off speed.

It's brutal , and it's the only Hemi powered roadrace car I know of.
Plus, his speed , acceleration , and braking are phenominal !!
I want a Camaro Version of that type of track-car that performs like that.

That would be the Jakes Rod Shop 2nd gen Camaro entry. See link below. The car is not eligible for the Pro-Touring Trophy Cup, but it will be fun to see how this car compares with the Challenger and other dedicated race cars.
Also note that the cardomain crowd has voted the JRS Camaro up to #1. That helps show the Grassroots Motorsports and Classic Motorsports publishers that there is strong interest in our cars. Too bad I can't get Jake to take and post some decent photos of the done car.

You would think so, but the torque that mill puts out is massive so it doesn't need to rev to the moon. he also is running a relatively mild build up IIRC.
While there is not a huge amount of Challenger left, it still has the roof, doors, and quarters, from a '74 Challenger and it recently won the Ultimate Track Car Shootout, which is a run what you brung, no holds bar, fastest car wins type of competition. http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/utcc/updates/ 4th vid down shows it walking away from a 650 horse Viper ACR-X. Viper has an in car camera.
